Frescobaldi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva “Ripe al Convento” Magnum 2012

The village of Castelgiocondo overlooks the historic Frescobaldi estate in Montalcino, an ancient stronghold built in 1100 to defend the road that led from the sea to Siena. A historical place, it is in fact one of the first four properties in which in 1800 the production of Brunello di Montalcino began. The estate is located in an ideal terroir for the Sangiovese and for the great wines that are produced here: the vineyards dwell at heights between 300 and 400 meters, the well-draining soils have the sunny and favorable south-west exposure. In the vineyard maniacal care, high density and low yields, allow us to produce a great Brunello, with elegant fabric and admirable longevity. From the Ripe al Convento vineyard, at an altitude between 350 and 450 m, this wine is born, the result of a scrupulous selection that begins in the vineyard and continues in the cellar with the manual sorting of each grain. A Brunello Reserve of strong personality and extraordinary longevity, whose maturation takes place partly in Slavonian oak barrels and partly in French oak barrels and which in the glass amazes not only for its elegance but also for its strength and persistence.
